Blogging Tips

My friend/cousin Robby launched a blog this week.  Being lazy and it's after 10 pm decided to write about blogging since I've been keeping up with blogging this week even though I've been working part time again.  And Robby can read this when he gets time.

I read an interesting post about launching a site using just twitter.  This is pretty interesting, especially the authors use of wordpress etc.  as I am totally screwed up fairly proficient in wordpress and related apps. What did this post tell me?  I need to find tweet meme for my blogger blogs, this one (serious blog), Animals That Give Pause  (animals, duh) and Missouri Books (book reviews).  I already have tweet meme for   Tresa's Blog (my humor blog and personal.  I do need to work on   animalsthatgivepause.com which is basically like the blogger animalsthatgivepause but it's MINE as in no one can take the name or the blog away...think about it.

Second tip about blogging?  Mention your blog everywhere....facebook, link in your other blogs, comment....this will get you a decent amount of readers.

Easiest way to get bloggers?  Have a post that is really like current.  I lucked out with Labradoodles when the president and his family were looking for a dog.  Use a picture everyone wants to see and voila.
You are probably on facebook?  Go with it....get connected with others with your interests.  I've recently started searching out artists and other bichon frise owners.  Of course I have to like the artist and feel comfortable (most are women) before I ask them to be my friend.  The bichon owners?  Most of them I am friends with are in this big social circle of bichon owners.  Of course you could do this with anything.
Go to http://www.problogger.net/ and do what they say.

Go to Twitter, be good and do follow Friday, don't just tweet yourself, follow everyone within reason....and everyone who follows you IF you want a network which is why you are there right?  I'm TCblogger btw on twitter.

I know you are saying she has 19 followers who is she to tell me this?  Ahhhh go see Animals That Give Pause on blogger and check out the number on the bottom right.  Considering I haven't really been a good or prolific blogger not to shabby huh?  Tell you a secret, I gave up on blogging after a few months, went back a couple months later after not writing hardly anything and had almost 10,000, decided I'd start writing again.....

AND the reasons I love blogging?

1. Exposure to new ideas through others comments and blogs and "meeting" so many interesting people. I've even had an author of a book comment on my Missouri Books when I wrote about his book, scary.
   
2. Ability to vent @ times or share what I'm thinking, I think my relatives and friends are rather relieved they don't have so many lengthy emails to wade through, my daughter admits she scans them.
3. I can take pretty pictures and share.
4. I can share experiences.
5. I found I can write which I never thought I could do, sure if it was an ebay ad or I was venting I could write but I can actually write about any given subject, who knew? Mom would be proud, then she would correct my grammar. Maybe not in that order.
6. I can talk about my 3 favorite subjects, animals, books, and my views/stories, what more could you ask for?

Blogging Help Site, SEO, Image Search

OK, here's the link.
I'm still reading it but have lots of work to do evidently. SEO, and blogging ethics are about as far as I've gotten. This is a great how to site, how to use Digg, StumbleUpon, Technorati, what to really do to get your site noticed, besides writing good content of course. I could go on but I'm reading.
Now I need to go to enhanced image search on webmaster tools. Go to the link and you will find out all about it.

Blogging Tips

Ok, here's the link to 25 tips to better blogging.

Pretty informative, I'm on twitter, thinking about facebook, no problemo getting web space, I free lance for a web design company. The rest of the tips are worth thinking about. Go with what you feel comfortable with, there is no sure formula for blogging success other than good content, great pictures but other things can make it happen faster.

If you look @ my other blog Animals That Give Pause it has quite a bit more traffic than this one. Why? I wrote more regularly, I commented more on blogs with animals on them, I was on an animal forum, I included more pictures, but the one thing I think that actually brought so much traffic? A lucky break and keywords! That's it. So keep up whatever you are blogging on, fine tune it, and like the movie says, "they will come".

So what is everyone elses opinion?

Oh WOW A Really Good Blog, I Mean It

Ok, it's The One Minute Writer, it was a blog of note.
For all of you who think you don't have time to blog or lack inspiration, read it. Pretty Cool huh, I'm dating myself again re the Pretty Cool huh.
In other news, dog still hasn't gotten a bath, need to take trash out, husband home tomorrow and hopefully we will get to meet our almost 2 week old granddaughter, Zowie Jean. I have loaded up on a mobile and various sleepers, t shirts and a package of almost newborn diapers. Almost newborn you say? She was almost 7 lb, not big that way but 21 inches long and I'm sure she weighs 8 lb by now. Pictures to follow of course.
