Wordless Wednesday (with captions)

Guess how old?

Log Cabin and Day Lillie's part of my ornamental grass too.

Day Lillie's

My boundary beds, divides the main lawn from the lawn
by the road? I just turned around from taking the ornamental
grass picture to take this one.

Hibiscus I (OK I doctored the picture a bit)

Hibiscus II

Cabin and planter. We never lived in the cabin, my dads nanny
did though with her mom and dad and sisters. This is where the
cats go when they want privacy or away from the dogs.

  1. I'll guess 15. Do I win something? LOL

I would love to have that cabin in our woods! I would turn it into my writer's cabin.

  2. I would say you are more like 17 or 18 in that first picture.

The flower pictures are just beautiful. The old cabin is so cool.

  3. I'll say how old I was later today Lily. We were going to resurrect the cabin about 9 years ago, I planned how to do it and then thought I could die, logs are cracked on other side from the weight of wet straw. I can remember putting the straw in there though. I still use east side for garden storage, just don't like the grandkids going in there but they do.

  4. Allen thanks on the flower pictures, I don't claim to be a photographer. I think the cabin is cool too. Someday something will happen to it though, we were going to have wienie roast on the other side of the driveway sort of by the cabin then decided that wouldn't be too smart since cabin is filled with straw!

  5. Just found your site! I'll guess 15 like @lily did. That smile is not quite 16 yet!

    Fantastic hibiscus!
The Rose of Sharon is a very hardy bloomer here in Ohio. If you pulled back on that shot you probably had 100 blooms on that bush! While the Helene Rose and Super Rose http://www.springhillnursery.com/hibiscus-plants/c/1758/pc/10/ plants are probably the most hardy and familiar yours is not as familiar, is it a Freedom Rose?

Love the cabin too, we have so many here in Ohio that are in disrepair that one in good shape like yours is hard to find.

    Cheers!

  6. Michael I looked @ the rose of sharon pictures, I have NO idea which one we have. I know we used to have pink and a bluish one and now we have all colors. The big pink one by my picture window is my favorite.
I ignore the hibiscus basically, I dug a trench from the gutter downspout to it and I mow so the grass clippings pile up on it. I haven't fertilized for years.
I have another cabin that is almost livable, it's from before the civil war, it's covered in tin though, that's why it's almost livable, it's protected.

  7. I'm going to guess sixteen on the photo.

I love your lawn and the flowers, the hibiscus is breathtaking. What I really like is the cabin and you say there is a second one pre civil war, how cool is that? Maybe sometime you will give us a tour?

    Have a super day,
    Judy

  8. I'm not sure a tour of the other cabin would be that interesting. I will take pictures when it's cold, I KNOW there are snakes down there. The other cabin survived the burning of Florence during the civil war, Florence used to have a population of over 500, a tannery was where the new post office sits. This cabin was the doctors or dentists or something on the S edge of town which happens to be the N edge of what my great grandparents bought @ first, they moved the cabin by taking it apart and rebuilding it and numbering the logs. They moved it to the center of the farm.
My husband likes the other cabin because it has an attached loafing shed on it now, he can keep the tractors that don't run there? This one he doesn't like so much but you see it's still standing? He does say we need to either get rid of it or fix it up.

  9. Ok ta daaa, you all were really close, I'd been guessed @ 21 on the street before this photo was taken but I probably had lighter hair then.

I'm almost 18 in the photo, the occasion was having pictures taken of my first daughter, yes I was a mother she was almost 2 weeks old. The other pictures have my ex in them except the ones of the baby which I can't find right now.

  10. Oh, I guess Allen won! I alwasy hated my chubby cheeks, nobody ever explained about high cheekbones and they were a good thing to have till I got older!
Even then @ 17 I had circles starting under my eyes.
